Jared – March 2024 Reformer of the Month

Jared is our March 2024 reformer of the month! Say congrats if you can get up early enough so see him in the 5:30 am class!

How long have you been in CrossFit?

Close to 2 years this stint.

How did you come across CrossFit?

My wife introduced me in 2012. I was skeptical for a while… so you run around the building, jump on a box, do pull ups, then run around the building again?!? Turns out, that’s all you need to do. Did it until we moved to Mission Viejo in 2017. Then restarted a couple years ago.

What are your favorite movements/lifts? What are your least favorite? –Any recent PR’s you would like to mention?

Favorite – Cleans. Least favorite: wall balls & overhead squatsHit 205 on clean and Jerk and 305 on back squat.

What is one goal you would like to set for yourself regarding CrossFit?

Find the right balance with sleep, food and exercise

Do you have a favorite girl or hero WOD?

Grace or Helen

Where are you from?

Southeastern Minnesota. From the part of MN that wasn’t big on hockey. I played basketball.

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?

Self healing (basically Deadpool with the sarcasm but without the horrifying burns)

If you were granted 3 wishes, what would they be?

1. To not be the least flexible person at the gym

2. I will be able to row and do wall balls faster than Travis

3. I will be able to do burpees and pull ups faster than Jacob

If you could host a dinner party with any 3 people dead or alive, who would you have attend?

Trick question – that would force me to be in an uncomfortable social situation

Share 1 thing that people in the gym would not know about you?

I’m a registered dietitian… and not only did I not play hockey but I can’t ice skate

How has CrossFit changed your life?

Most of my time goes to family and work and there isn’t much time for anything else. Reform is a great outlet and community of folks.

Would you like to give any shout outs to those in the gym who have encouraged you or inspired you?

Can’t thank the inspiring coaches enough. Like when Dennis told me “you’re going Rx on this one, haha, good luck!” or when Gavin told me after a workout, “Great job! I had to make sure I stayed in front of you. It’d be embarrassing if I lost to someone almost twice my age” In all seriousness, this is a great group of members and coaches. Shout out to Gavin who comes prepared to every class with his post it. Also, shout out to Lauren, with the kids, managing the workouts, personalities and everything else that goes along with teenagers!
