Congratulations Mariana L!
How long have you been in CF?
I’ve been doing CF for 2 years.
How did you come across CF?
I’m a runner and I’ve always worked out doing lots of things. I heard about CF and thought “I’ll give it a try, I want to do something different” ….I couldn’t stop since that day. It’s addictive.
What are your favorite movements/lifts? What are your least favorite? Any recent PRs you would like to mention?
My favorite movements are back squat and thrusters ( I like lifts where I get to use my whole body) . My least favorite is bench press. I feel I PR every day because every WOD I give everything to it. For me that’s a PR.
What have been your goals for 2015?
Life goals: keep making healthy choices, making my kids happy. Running a 1/2 Marathon (which I did in May). CF goals: be stronger , lift more weight , and getting my double unders and pull ups !!!! (Still working on those).
Do you have a favorite girl or hero WOD?
MURPH! I love high intensity workouts and being able to begin and finish it with a run, awesome!
Where are you from?
I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
If you could have any super hero power, what would it be?
I’d love to have super fly powers so I can go to Argentina and see my family whenever I want or need to. I miss them so much.
If you had a time machine, which part of your life would you revisit?
I’d love to go back to when I was a teenager and enjoy those little things in life that you don’t think they are important till you grow up and realize how much you missed. For example spending more time with my grandparents I’d give everything today to see them and give them one more hug and say sorry for not knowing how much I was missing by not spending more time with them.
If you could host a dinner party with any three people, dead or alive, who would you have attend?
My 2 Grandmas (Mamina and Nona ) and my Grandpa (Nono). That’s how we called them.
Share one thing that people in the gym would not know about you.
I was a Figure Skater for 15 years ( 5 to 20 years old ) in Argentina. I used to go to competitions and I won lots of trophies. When I moved to USA 15 years ago the first thing I packed were my skates. I have them here with me. Flips, double flips, butterflies…all kinds of things I did . It was a great time in my life.
How has CF changed your life?
As I said before I used to work out a lot, but with CF not only I lost 20 pounds but I also feel stronger ( mind and body ) and I do things I never thought I’d be doing. I made a lot of friends and I feel, for the first time in years, that I’m doing something for ME and not thinking about what everybody else needs and leaving me at the end of the list. I’m taking care of Mariana.
Would you like to give any shout outs to those in the gym who have encouraged you or inspired you?
Of course the coaches, Eric, Dan, Ashley and Miranda. They are so inspiring and so encouraging that I can’t thank them enough for pushing me to do better, for being so nice, for making the gym a great place to be every day. Also the members because they are all so friendly, I think we make a great community. Thanks everybody for letting me be part of it.
