1) How long have you been in CF?
I started CF about 4 years ago, but ended up taking about a year off after having my daughter and making to transition from TN to CA.
2) How did you come across CF?
A bunch of my friends started CF and were loving it. I had never done anything athletic or any type of workout before but was tired of being over weight and out of shape so I decided to give CF a try. My first day I couldn’t even do the warm up and thought I am never coming back, but the community and having those girls come around me and encourage me is what kept me coming back.
3) What are your favorite movements/lifts? What are your least favorite? Any recent PRs you would like to mention?
Favorite lift is probably back squat, least favorite is overhead squat. I most recently PR’d my mile run time which is huge for me because I hate to run and usually have 1 speed.
4) What are your goals for the remainder of 2016?
After last year’s Double Dare, my goal was to be able to do this year’s RX so I am excited for that coming up. For the remainder of the year I really want to start working on endurance, I have noticed that is a huge weakness of mine.
5) Do you have a favorite girl or hero WOD?
I don’t know that I have a favorite, but I really like any WOD where the reps are descending, I have an easier time pushing when I know next time I have to do less that I just did.
6) Where are you from?
I am from TN, just moved to CA about 2 years ago.
7) If you could have any super hero power, what would it be?
I would love to be able to snap my fingers and be somewhere else. Living so far away from family, there have been so many times I wish I could just pop home to go to a family get-together or to get some good southern cooking. Also, I am almost always running late, I think being able to transport myself would help with that too.
8) If you could revisit one moment in your life, what moment would that be?
Sometimes I think it would be nice to just be a kid again, with no responsibilities, the ability to to go across the monkey bars with ease, and have perfect form at the bottom of a squat.
9) If you could host a dinner party with any three people, dead or alive, who would you have attend?
I’m sure it is just because I was just home in TN, but I so enjoyed the time I had with my siblings and parents having dinner and playing games. I took that for granted when we lived there, but now that I don’t have family around me all the time it seems more special.
10) Share one thing that people in the gym would not know about you.
11) How has CF changed your life?
My goodness, too many ways to count! Of course the obvious health and weight loss things, but I have also learned so much about community, self discipline and that I am capable of doing so much more that I ever thought possible. One huge lesson that has carried over from gym to life is breaking an overwhelming task up into doable parts. There have been many times I come and see the work out and think “I could never do all that!” It almost makes me want to quit before I even get started, and there was a time in my life I would have. But I know I always can do one more rep, and one more rep, until its complete and I have done what seemed impossible before. Another huge change for me is realizing we open ourselves up to amazing things when we step outside of our comfort zone, in the gym, and in life- like moving across the country.
12) Would you like to give any shout outs to those in the gym who have encouraged you or inspired you?
For sure all my morning crew, love working out with them! But also all my other CF Mama’s who have a million other things to do and places to be with kids in tow, but still show up and get after it… it makes it harder to make excuses for not coming when I know they are in the same boat and still there. Plus I love all these kiddos growing up watching their Mama’s be STRONG!
