How long have you been in CF?
About nine fun-filled months.
How did you come across CF?
Jerry Ray told us about it – we always brought our Harleys to his bike wash at Cook’s Corner. A couple of weeks went by and we met Jonathan Damen at Sake Sushi, he overheard us talking about Crossfit reform. Jonathan Damen had a lot of good things to say about Crossfit Reform, and that pretty much clinched the deal for us. We went down there the next day and Spoke with Eric and signed up.
What are your favorite movements/lifts?
I like pretty much all of them, however, some are definitely a lot harder than others. Front and back squats, Snatches and cleans are fun. KB swings too. Love those burpees!
What are your least favorite?
The ones I really need to work on, either form or strength – TTB – these just kill my arms! Overhead Squat – just don’t have the mobility yet.
Any recent PRs you would like to mention?
I forget my last PR weight, however, it was the dead lift.
What is one goal you would like to set for yourself regarding CF?
One of these days I will do a muscle-up. I need to work on a lot of technique and mobility. Still cannot do the Double Unders – that’s going to take some time to master.
Do you have a favorite girl or hero WOD?
So far, I would have to say Murph.
Where are you from?
I was born in Chicago Illinois; been in California since 1979.
If you could have any super hero power, what would it be?
Ironman – Tony Stark is an engineering superhero!
If you could shape shift into any animal at any time, which animal would you pick?
Probably an eagle or hawk – it would be great to be able to just fly away!
If you could host a dinner party with any three people, dead or alive, who would you have attend?
My Mom, Dad and brother. It would be nice to catch up. Maybe they could give me an idea of what’s on the other side.
Share one thing that people in the gym would not know about you.
I used to do a lot of rock climbing in my younger days. I like hiking in the desert and mountains and enjoy long cross-country motorcycle rides.
How has CF changed your life?
I used to go to the gym and wander around doing some free-weights here and there, then a machine or two. Most of the time I would get bored and just leave. Crossfit is so much more fun – now I really look forward to working out! Had no idea how many different workouts there are – didn’t think I would ever be doing Olympic weightlifting moves. Crossfit Reform is giving me the motivation I need to push myself further than when I was working out at the other gyms.
Would you like to give any shout outs to those in the gym who have encouraged you or inspired you?
Jerry Ray – he was always so positive and friendly; super nice guy. Also, to all the coaches and members – really appreciate their advice and encouragement.
