After being a member on and off for the past nine years, Roland has recently made amazing progress. In just a few months, he has lost 40 pounds and, more importantly, found a sustainable approach to fitness and nutrition that has completely changed his life.
His journey wasn’t just about losing weight, but about reclaiming his health and confidence.
The Turning Point
Roland had been active in sports and weightlifting since his teens, but he always struggled with his weight. He tried various diets, like Whole 30 and Noom, but the results never lasted. Over the past five years, he faced three surgeries—knee, ankle, and bicep tendon repairs—all setting him back further. Then, the scale hit 225 pounds and stayed there for months despite regular gym workouts and mindful eating. That was when he knew something had to change.
“When I saw the scale reach 225 lbs and stay there for three months, I knew I couldn’t sustain that. That was my turning point. I realized that going to the gym alone wasn’t enough, and I needed to take a more serious approach to my nutrition.”
How Nutrition Coaching Changed Everything
Roland began by tracking his calories, but he quickly realized that the way he was eating wasn’t aligning with his goals. He initially used Noom, but he noticed he was losing both fat and muscle. That’s when he reached out to Coach Eric and started working with our nutrition coach Jolene.
“Jolene shifted my focus away from calories and had me track my protein intake instead. That was a huge revelation for me and made all the difference. I started seeing the results I was aiming for—losing fat while maintaining muscle.”

Navigating Family Dynamics and Diet Adjustments
Changing his daily eating habits was one of Roland’s biggest challenges. From adjusting his coffee routine to prioritizing protein over vegetables, these shifts weren’t easy, especially when his family didn’t fully understand his goals.
“It was tough at first. My wife was skeptical, especially when I started eating protein first at meals. But once she saw the changes happening, she began to understand. It’s important to trust your plan, even when those around you don’t fully get it.”
A New Lease on Life
After months of dedication, Roland’s results speak for themselves. He has lost 40 pounds, trimmed 7 inches off his waist, and gone from wearing XL to medium-sized clothes. His cholesterol and blood pressure are back to healthy levels, and more than that, he’s regained his confidence.
“Physically, I feel better than ever. Mentally, I no longer care about the number on the scale. I’ve learned that proper nutrition and consistent effort are the keys to long-term success.”
Advice for Beginners
For anyone just starting their fitness and nutrition journey, Roland’s advice is simple but powerful: believe in yourself, never give up, and don’t be afraid to try new things. He also emphasized the importance of working with a coach who can offer expert guidance.
“Setbacks will happen, but you have to stick to your goals. Don’t stress about lifting super heavy right away—just have fun with your fitness routine, and the progress will come. And definitely reach out to a nutrition coach like Jolene early in your journey.”
Small Changes, Big Results
Roland’s story is a powerful reminder that with the right mindset, support, and guidance, anything is achievable. By making small, consistent changes, he has completely transformed his health, confidence, and lifestyle.
